Bear Creek Arsenal is introducing a new addition to its AR-15 lineup with the launch of the Bear Pump, it's first pump-action AR-15, available in both complete rifles and upper assemblies. Combining the familiar features of the AR-15 platform with a manually operated pump-action design, the Bear Pump offers shooters a new option within the AR-style platform.
With its unique operating design, compatibility with standard AR-15 components, and multiple caliber and barrel options, the Bear Pump expands the choices available to hunters, recreational shooters, and firearm enthusiasts.
How Does the Bear Pump Work?
What makes the Bear Pump different from a traditional AR-15?
Unlike traditional semi-automatic AR-15 rifles, which automatically cycle the action after each shot, the Bear Pump requires the shooter to manually operate the sliding forend.
After firing, pulling the forend rearward ejects the spent casing, while pushing it forward chambers the next round. This manually operated design provides a different shooting experience while retaining many of the familiar features of the AR-15 platform.
Bear Pump Features and Specifications
The Bear Pump combines its pump-action operation with compatibility across several standard AR-15 components, including magazines, grips, and many mil-spec internal components.
For customers who already own an AR-15, Bear Pump complete upper assemblies are designed to work with standard AR-15 lower receivers, allowing them to pair a Bear Pump upper with an existing compatible lower.
The Bear Pump is avaliable in 400 Legend and 450 Bushmaster, two popular straight-wall hunting cartridges, with additional AR15 calibers expected to follow. Barrel options include 16-, 18-, and 20-inch lengths.
The Bear Pump also features a full-length Picatinny top rail, providing space for mounting compatible optics and accessories.
