Announcing the BC-15 Bolt Action Style Upper and Rifle

For years, Bear Creek Arsenal has set the standard in the firearms community for producing reliable, innovative products that balance high-quality craftsmanship with affordability. Today, we are excited to introduce the newest addition to our lineup to be released later this month: the BC-15 Bolt Action Style Complete Upper and Rifle!

Known for their inherent accuracy and controlled, manual operation, bolt action rifles excel in hunting and long-range shooting environments. Our new bolt action style complete uppers combine the classic appeal and precision of bolt action with the modularity of the AR platform, giving shooters a fresh and unique option for their rifles.

Features of the BC-15 Bolt Action Style Upper and Rifle

The BC-15 bolt action style upper and rifle utilizes a convenient, rugged steel handle with an ultra-short 23 degree throw. Less moving parts means even higher accuracy! Plus the absence of cycling noise makes it a great option for precision shooters focused on their next shot. Like all of our AR-15 complete uppers, the BC-15 bolt action style upper is designed to fit seamlessly with any standard AR-15 lower. The bolt action style bolt carrier group utilizes the same T25 Torx bit for disassembly as BCA’s Gen-2 side charging handle.

Durability is in the DNA of every Bear Creek Arsenal product. The bolt action style upper and rifle are constructed from high-quality materials, ensuring they withstand heavy use while remaining easy to clean and maintain.

Advantages Over Traditional Bolt-Action Rifles

One of the greatest advantages of the BC-15 bolt action style complete upper is the flexibility it brings to the AR platform. For many, the versatility to switch between a semi-auto and bolt-action configuration is a game-changer. Here’s what makes this product special:

  • Customization: You can add optics, bipods, grips, and other AR accessories to enhance the experience, giving you a bolt-action rifle that fits your unique style.
  • Cost-Effective Solution: Instead of purchasing a separate bolt-action rifle, this upper lets you convert your existing AR lower with ease, saving you both space and money.
  • Adaptability: With the ability to change calibers, shooters can quickly adapt their platform for different uses without the need for additional firearms. Like all our complete uppers, these require no additional paperwork and ship straight to your door.

Why Choose Bear Creek Arsenal?

At Bear Creek Arsenal, we stand by our commitment to quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction. BC-15 bolt action style uppers and rifles are backed by our extensive expertise in firearms manufacturing and our dedication to delivering products that exceed expectations. With an extensive quality control process, competitive pricing, and a warranty that covers every purchase, you can feel confident in your investment.

The Bear Creek Arsenal BC-15 bolt action style rifle is a revolutionary addition for anyone who values precision, flexibility, and a little old-school bolt-action flair on the AR platform. BCA will offer bolt action style uppers and riles starting with the popular straight walled calibers of .350 Legend and .450 Bushmaster and expand to other hunting and precision calibers in the future.

The BC-15 bolt action style was released on December 9th 2024. Click here to be taken to the Bolt Action Style Page!

Let me know when bolt comes out. What is the recoil like on a 350 legend say compared to a 6.5 Grendel?

Any plans for the new 338 ARC? I would be interested in a short 6-10” side charging upper for subsonic deer hunting.

How many rounds is the new bolt action able to withstand from the constant cycling of the bcg? I would assume possibly after so many cycles that the bolt action would possibly work itself out or may start to have some kind of warpage and does it have enough clearance from your hand depending on how the operator carries their firearm? Hate to have it smacking my knuckles while firing lol.
John
November 15, 2024
We are currently testing, no issues so far.
Gordon Nettles
December 1, 2024
It's a bolt action.... There is no cycling of the bcg unless you move the bolt intentionally. A bolt locks in place while you fire there is no gas system in a bolt action.

November 16, 2024
Hoping this will be available for 5.56. I’ve looked at Unitah Precision’s bolt action uppers but they didn’t manufacture it in that caliber.
CoreyN
November 20, 2024
I have a Unitah Precision in 6.5 CM that shoots lights out. They will build to whatever caliber/length you want but it's super expensive. I'm excited to get a 300blk ~8in that doesn't cost more than my mortgage+car payment combined.

November 17, 2024

November 18, 2024
What will be the barrel gas port solution be? Tap the hole and install a set screw or a gas block that does not have a provision for the gas tube?
John
November 18, 2024
There will be no gas system needed
GARTH DALSON
November 26, 2024
I don’t think you’re understanding the concept of how a bolt action rifle works. The only reason a semi auto AR needs a gas tube and gas block is to help the BCG cycle reliably after each shot. Bolt actions are not semi auto, you have to physically pull the bolt to the rear after you fire each shot. Why? Because there’s no gas port, block or tube to bring the gas back to the bolt. Hope that makes sense.
Dale A Lounsbury
December 8, 2024
Another plus for the Bolt action, is getting the full ability of whatever cartridge you use. It's going to make a lot of difference in range and FSP, and the overall ballistics for each caliber.
TIM GONZALEZ
December 9, 2024
I don't think you understand what he is asking. All standard AR barrels have a gas port that will have to be plugged or covered since you no longer need the gas to operate the action. He is just wondering if BC is going to offer a plug or suggestion to eliminate the gas port.
David Moore
November 18, 2024

November 24, 2024
Do you have any plans for a 22 ARC? With that short throw and a light recoiling bolt gun, I could be at the range all day. Let me know.
Darren Armstrong
November 28, 2024
I’d be interested in just the upper with the arc/grendel bolt. Basically have an ar chassis bolt action in 22arc. Could always turn the gas block around to block off the gas port.
Tom Mattingly
November 24, 2024
this would be awesome in 6.8 spc II, as bolt guns in this caliber are rare.

December 9, 2024
Yes! 6.8 SPC would great.

November 24, 2024
Logically NOT needing a buffer/buffer tube makes sense, but with the bolt upper would I be able to utilize a picatinny adapter to add a folding stock?
ANDREW KAMMERER

Second that question! I have a lower w/ a pic adapter and folding stock that I would love to throw this on for a lightweight 300blk whitetail rig.

November 25, 2024
Would like to see the 6.8 spc brought back again. But guess I’ll have to settle for 6.5 Grendel. I’ll be waiting patiently.
Robert McIntosh
December 9, 2024
Don’t settle. Bear Creek listens and I’m sure there are many of us who want 6.8 SPC.
Donald Fykes

Brenden Copeland
November 25, 2024
Finally a bolt with interchangeable AR components. 22-250 me please!!

Will the bolt action be offered as a stand alone ? This would permit users to select their own calibers.
John
November 26, 2024
They will be normal AR uppers, but in bolt action style.

November 26, 2024
definitely interested in the ability to switch between semi-auto and bolt action on the same platform. Please let me know when available...especially in 300 blackout and/or 762x39. This would be cool!!!!

November 27, 2024
Looking forward to the 6MM ARC bolt upper. Hornady has two reloading charts for the 6MM ARC cartridge, "bolt action" and "gas gun" with the max loads being 200-300fps slower for the "gas gun" loads. May ex[plain some of the over pressure comments from new 6MM owners that shoot the Hornady Black ammunition. Hopefully the new Bolt upper will handle the higher chamber pressures so users can take advantage of the higher velocity loads for long range shooting.

December 5, 2024
A lot of you would look a lot less foolish, if you read this article before submitting questions and comments. It also would be a great idea if you found out how a bolt action rifle works before asking questions about the gas system. My only question is how well 23° is going lock up at battery and if it's susceptible to having the bolt handle lifted unintentionally because of the short bolt handle rotation. I'll wait. Keep up the great work.

+1 for a 7.62x39 bolt action upper.
Andy Kessner
December 9, 2024
So, if you want to get an idea of what shooting a bolt action is like, add an adjustable gas block and turn off the gas port. You essentially have a single shot, depending on you to cycle the bolt and eject the spent shell. Works really good in a small deer blind with two people. I don’t hit my buddy with my brass ejection any more. This brings to question, why you would need a bolt action! I do like the idea though and I also would be interested in 224 valkyrie as well as 7-08. I’m ready when you offer them.
DL Hudson
December 9, 2024
Will you be making one for the AR10 platform?
Dale LeBarron
December 9, 2024
Disappointed in the release. 98% of the people who would be inclined to buy these rifles are NOT going to be using them at the range for rapid, prolonged fire. So why the heavy barrel? Why a parkerized finish that doesn't hold up to hunting conditions? And why 18" instead of 20"? My 20" Mossberg Patriot in .450 Bushmaster weighs 6.5 pounds. These things weigh 8 pounds. Did you really think this through BCA?
Brent Johnson
December 16, 2024
You are not entirely wrong.... but this is 1st gen release. Hopefully they will craft better with 300blk

December 9, 2024
I will order an upper as soon as a 338 arc short barrel is offered…
Billy Glaze
December 9, 2024
Just ordered the 350 legend version. Excited to see how it performs. My BCA rear charging 350 legend uppers shoot well, but has always had terrible feed issues. It was basically a single shot 50% of the time. This should solve the feeding issues.

Severe disappointment. Straight wall cartridges are easily accurate out of any action. Make it in 6mm ARC and I'll buy 2.

This bolt should be designed so that it can be used in the normal rear charging upper receiver for interchangeability. I now have 2 kali key straight pull bcg assemblies for my bear creek 6.5 grendel and 7.62x39. Simply remove the semi-auto bcg and replace with kali-key bcg to switch between straight pull and semi-auto. WORKS GREAT. I love my 6 Bear Creek uppers.
Rich Lee
December 12, 2024
$213 for a BCG and charging handle where you have to come up off the rifle completely to rack it? Rather spend about $100 more for a fully built upper receiver with barrel, handguard, and bolt-action style bolt/handle from BCA. Popping two receiver pins seems easier than you swapping the dirty BCG's (and finding a place to store it) along with the charging handle.

Make a single-shot bolt-action .308Win/6.5CM AR15 upper! Would be great for long-range target shooting with match ammo (not high volume plinking away at $2/rd).

Oh please, please, please with major drooling, offer this bolt action to other calibers! 6mm Arc,Grendel, Valkyrie-hint hint. This might be the most stoked I've been on a new product release!!! Don't just sit there, let's do it!

Looks like I could change the bolt in the bolt carrier to change the caliber and then change the barrel to any caliber I choose, like I've done with my side chargers in converting them to 6.8 SPC II... Thanks for teeing up another project for me
Tweak Racer

That would be cool. But, without seeing photos/videos with close-ups of the bolt, it might not be just a custom bolt carrier that uses a separate bolt head like an AR. If it is just a big one piece bolt, then it wouldn't be possible to do the caliber swaps by changing bolt heads.

Can't believe those uppers are considered firearms and must be transferred via FFL. So you'd be shooting two firearms at the same time.

Uppers are shipped directly to your home. Only lowers and complete firearms are sent to FFL

Not is this case. McCutchen Firearms .50 BMG upper is a serialized firearm and must be transferred via FFL. Look it up.

Merry Christmas! I was wondering if you would sell the upper receiver, bolt, and tube plug? For hunting coyotes with a 6 ARC.

For the AR-15: 6mm Arc, 6.5 Grendel, and then for the AR-10 Lower, 6mm Creedmoor, 6.5 Creedmoor. These would be awesome. But thank you everything you guys do.

I’ve read the comments and haven’t found the answer to an important question. Will standard AR-15 barrel be interchangeable with the receiver. ie; can I install any AR-15 barrel on this receiver?

I would love to see a version that is a rim fire precision rifle. Bear Creek could make a nice addition to that market!

so much to wish for…. Left handed BC-10 chambered in a 8.6 Blackout, and another in 6 mm Creedmoor. Want that Blender suppressed for the wild swine and the tack driver for those 1K plus shots.

I would like to build a light weight 6.5 Grindel bolt action AR as a woods carry rifle. It is my intention to make it in a bullpup configuration. If my calculations are correct it will weigh about 4.5 lbs with the scope and be 26 to 28 inches long and recoil will be very mild. With a tactical sling I can move through the woods and brush hands free without snagging things and have the rifle handy for a quick shot. The 6.5 Grindel, with an 18-20 inch barrel will be capable of an ethical 250 yard shoot on deer. When will you be selling the actions only so I can continue this project? Will you be producing a bolt action, thin barreled action 6.5 Grindel, 6 Arc or 7.62x39 soon?

Just bought the 450 Bushmaster bolt action upper. Would be nice to have other calibers available. 556/223, 7.62X39, 300 BO, 12.7X42 ect. Especially good in states where AWB are in place.

I've asked before buy I'll keep asking. Everything seem to be in place for BCA to come out with a 32lr rimfire pervision bolt action rifle. Much the same as Ruger RPR had, the difference. Make it with a 22" heavy stainless barrel, 1-16 twist, threaded on the AR platform. It's needed, The Ruger is great but a 22" would set BCA a part. Just my $0.02 worth Thanks

Where are the pistol caliber bolt actions to turn my ar into a De Lisle carbine? Feed problems? Maybe use a longer barrel extension and put the lugs to the rear of the magazine. And where are the pistol length uppers for my SBR?

You can leave them in for using the lower on a gas upper or take them out. Won’t interfere with the bolt gun upper in ant way.
