Ammo Prices

Different caliber bullets lined up with a white background

Since the world changed drastically in March, ammunition has been in short supply. As the demand for ammo increased due to stockpiling and the many new gun owners, manufacturing slowed due to lockdowns, work restrictions, and material shortages. Primers in particular have been in shortest supply, causing popular ammunition prices to skyrocket.

While popular self-defense calibers like 5.56, .223, and 9mm have doubled in price per round, surprisingly not all ammunition have increased in price. Many hunting rounds such as .308 and .450 Bushmaster have even gone down in price. Check out some of our newest blog posts about 50 Beowulf, 6.5 Grendel vs. 308, and AR10 vs. AR15.

We have an updated infographic for 2021 Ammo Prices! Click to see how the market has changed from October. Best of luck out there and be sure to check out our selection of AR-15 uppers and AR-15 rifles before you go!

The stores near me are charging about $3 more per box of 308 than they were last year and 450 has almost doubled. I was paying about $28 for Hornady, now its about $45. I've seen 7.62x39 go from about $7.50 per box to $10 in stores and from about $5 to $8 online. The only 300aac I could find was up by a few dollars and the only 9mm I found was Hornady xtp and priced normally. The other rounds I haven't seen in stores, so I can't comment on, except 350 legend. Most stores I go into have cases of it collecting dust. They can't move the stuff so a price drop is to be expected. This is what happens when consumers get wise to Winchester's false advertising regarding the performance, or lack there of, of that round.

WHAT IS THE BEST MAGAZINE FOR THE 243 CALIBER AR-10?
John@customerservice
October 29, 2020
Almost any magazine that is for the AR-10 will suffice. We recommend using steel (or aluminum). Hint, the same magazine can be used for the 308 and 6.5 Creedmoor. So if you find a 308 magazine, it can be used for the 243 rounds as well. Hope this was helpful Ron.

What is the difference between the original BCG & the upgrade you are offering. Are there problems with my .223 -5.56 wylde ?
John@customerservice
March 3, 2021
Hey Brian, the upgrade includes a new BCG and Upper Receiver design to accommodate our newly designed side charging handle. Many people loved Gen-1 handles, however, we wanted to offer an upgrade program at a discounted price to help those who weren't happy with the Gen-1 design or simply like the Gen-2 better. There's no need to upgrade if you're happy with what you've got. Check out our YouTube channel for a more detailed explanation of the differences

Hello. Is the “guarantee for moa on 16” barrels or longer with match Ammo & proper shooting techniques” still valid? I checked many of your 16” barrels & longer listings and only found 2 listings that had that written in them. I’ve also asked this question on several of your different blogs 9 days ago but cannot see my questions in any of your comments sections? This is a simple question that hopefully BCA employees can answer. Thanks Justin
